The YCTMHT project includes separate live art, alternative cabaret and walkabout performances that can be booked for individual events, or alongside the main theatre performance to support audience development.

LIVE ART PERFORMANCES:

​

HITTING THE POINTE (durational)

​

Dressed in a heavy tutu of boxing gloves and ballet pointe shoes, Lorraine Smith will explore the space, and the audience, accompanied by live soundscapes by Peter Heselton. This painful and cathartic journey will challenge traditional views of the feminine dancing body, revealing its true pain, endurance, and power. The piece will also explore the ability of costume/wearable art to communicate meaning and metaphor through transformation of forms, and will reflect the audience’s own body, creating a moment of shared humanity.

STRAWS (durational)

​

Wearing a wearable art costume made of 500 paper straws and accompanied by live soundscapes by Peter Heselton, Lorraine Smith will transform and morph between imagery, communicating beautiful animalistic and organic forms. This work takes inspiration from Lorraine's previous Butoh practice.

​

CABARET PERFORMANCES:

THE MARCHIONESS OF MERKIN

​

Come along and meet Meryl, the cockney self-proclaimed Marchioness of Merkin, and learn about her hairy family history. She promises not to grab you too hard by the short and curlies!

​

(Includes audience participation - merkin brushing and fashion parade)

​

THE FROLICKING VAGINA

​

A short & silly performance of a dancing vagina! Moves will be vulgar, obscene and in-your-face. This performance is a great accompaniment with The Marchioness of Merkin.

​

WALKABOUT & FESTIVALS:

 

We can offer walk-about interactive performances as part of festival and event entertainment. Our costumed performer will dance, pose, vogue and gyrate for and with your audience!

​
